Short Bio
My name is Jeremy Dorn and I am currently a Senior at Arizona State University pursuing a Computer Science major and a Business minor.
I've been doing web design and development since 2004 when I signed up for a beginning web design class at my high school. I finished the years worth of material and projects in the first month and spent the rest of the time learning on my own.
The next year, I was invited to take a web design internship class where I designed and built websites for teachers at the school. I further developed my web design skills and got experience communicating with clients.
I was a member and the lead programmer of the Amore FIRST Robotics Team for 2 years. In addition to designing, building, and programming robots , I was in charge of creating and maintaining the team website. I'm still involved with the team today as a mentor and coach.
After high school, I began developing a web-based contact management system called Dornbase from scratch. What started as a simple website has turned into a full-featured, production ready web application. It relies on PHP, jQuery, and MySQL to create a stable back end and user interface. I am currently on the 8th iteration, which is being used by two local companies. To see a demo or a list of features, click here.
I also have a content management system I've built from scratch that I use in most of my freelance web design work. This framework relies on PHP and jQuery UI and doesn't require a database. I am in the process of cleaning up the code and making this an open source project.
I have extensive experience with most of the main web development technologies, including HTML, PHP, Javascript, jQuery, CSS, SQL, AJAX, etc.. I am also proficient in Java, C, C++, Photoshop, and Flash. I work with both Linux and Windows regularly and am familiar with most of the major applications on each.
I always try to keep up-to-date with web design standards and the latest web design trends. I have a web design blog that I occasionally update and I am an active member in the jQuery community.
